Responsibilities
- Instruct apprentices
- Advise clients regarding standards, safety features and maintenance of gas units and systems
- Study drawings and specifications to determine the layout of the installation and materials required
- Test and adjust control mechanisms and check pipes and piping connections for gas leaks using gas detecting devices
- Estimate costs and materials
- Operate CADD and other computer software systems
- Test and replace defective equipment or components
- Repair and service gas appliances and related equipment
Licensing and Certification
- Gas Fitter Trade Certification
- Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate
- Gas Fitter Certificate – Level 1 or A
- Gas Fitter Certificate – Level 2 or B
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Gas Fitter
- Strong understanding of gas appliances, piping, and systems.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and relevant codes (e.g., CSA B149.1 Natural Gas and Propane Installation Code in Canada).
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and schematics.
- Hands-on mechanical skills and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work in various environments, including confined spaces and heights.
- Good physical condition to handle heavy tools and equipment.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: We offer competitive pay based on experience.
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
